"My family consisting of my husband and I, two of our married children and 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 to 6 spent the Christmas holiday at Escape Guesthouse. We had a wonderful stay there due to a very welcoming and gracious atmosphere and more than adequate spaces that met everyone's needs. With two other children living nearby in Brooklyn, we were in an ideal location for them and best of the Boerum Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, Clinton Hill areas, and beyond, of the borough. There were many transportation options at hand but we thoroughly enjoyed this location for many reasons including the amazing array of delightful shops, restaurants, BAM and neighborhood parks for the little ones to enjoy. At the Guesthouse, the showers were always hot, questions answered in a most helpful way, airport transport arranged and any request for something specific (such as my grand daughter's for bagels!) was met. This typical Brooklyn house with interesting architectural details, is an ideal spot for anyone looking for a B & B solution to your travel accommodation needs in Brooklyn. Liz and Mamie do a terrific job!" -Gail from Chicago
"We spent four days in August at Escape and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We had the entire apartment on the 2nd floor. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped and we were able to make meals and lunches to take on our excursions into Manhattan. Breakfast was simple and either the host, Elizabeth, or her assistant, Becky, was there to greet us and help out. The house has some striking architectural details (loved the concave door in the dining room) and was comfortable and homey. The treed street the house is on is lovely. Subways were close-by. We parked our car for 4 days (no charge; thanks, Brooklyn) and took transit or walked. Great grocery store (Brooklyn Fare) on Schermerhorn was a 5-minute walk, the BAM was 10 minutes away and Williamsburg--hip music but also travelled to Manhattan and returned to Bergen Street at night without ever feeling ill at ease. The price we were charged was fair and the dealings with Elizabeth and Becky straightforward and friendly. All in all, we'd happily return."
"Couldn't have asked for more! Walking distance to some great restaurants (check out the desserts!) as well as the subway and extremely convenient to Manhattan. Escape was comfortable, providing a homey feeling where we could come and go as we please. The owner made special arrangements to accommodate our late arrival, which made us feel very welcome. We highly recommend Escape and will return during a future visit to the city." - Gary from San Francisco
"We had a wonderful stay at Escape. Adrianne, Elizabeth's daughter, was our "inn keeper" and she couldn't have been more accomodating. Anytime we had a need, it was met immediately - without delay. It was quiet (yes, even in Brooklyn!) and very comfortable. It was hard to believe there was a "full house" for the 4 nights we stayed -it was sooo peaceful." -Cynthia and Jerry from Seattle
"This was a wonderful way to celebrate New Year's. The B&B was close to the subway and easy to get into Manhattan. The neighborhood was charming and there were plenty of nice restaurants, bakeries, stores all close by. The room was comfortable and clean, we stayed in "The Queen" and shared the bathroom, kitchen and living space with another couple. This proved to be a good arrangement. The staff was remarkably helpful and friendly! It was nice that they were not intrusive but were always present to answer questions. Will definitely recommend and stay here again!"
Staying at the Escape Guesthouse proved to be one of the best decisions we had ever made! My husband and I were in town for an event and decided to stay at this BnB. What a little piece of heaven! The bnb sits on a beuatifully shaded street that is ideal for sitting on the stoop and watching bicyclists go by. It's quiet and the residents are mostly families. The house is always kept clean and the rates affordable. What makes this place a gem is it's proximity to multiple metro stops, coffee shops, restaurants, and clothing stores. You have the privacy you want yet the closeness to citry life. Travel into Manhattan takes all but 20 minutes if that's your destination. Additionally, we drove and had no trouble parking. The level of care from the ownership team was just perfect. It has a bohemian feel with it's architecture and displayed artwork. and that's what we wanted. I come into the city often and am resolute in staying at the place from now on.
